Much has been made of Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero’s disrespectful and racist ramblings regarding Inter president Erick Thohir in recent days. On the back of that we’ve also read Evelina Christillin’s tirade which labelled the Nerazzurri chief ‘A fat little Indonesian’. Thohir himself has chosen to take a more diplomatic approach by not entering into a war of words over these two insults. However it’s entirely possible that Inter and Thohir could now have the last laugh over Ferrero in particular. Inter face Sampdoria tonight at the San Siro with Walter Mazzarri’s future hanging in the balance. Hardly the ideal time for the under fire coach to face a potential successor. That’s exactly what Sinisa Mihajlovic has become. His work at Ferrero’s Sampdoria hasn’t gone unnoticed with Napoli and Inter both reportedly admirers. The Serbian international himself has long declared it his ‘dream’ to take over at the San Siro. After serving as Roberto Mancini’s assistant the Nerazzurri bench is not unfamiliar with the ex Inter man.
Wouldn’t it be ‘oh so Calcio’ if Thohir made Mihajlovic an offer he couldn’t refuse? In a league full of suspicion and theatre the Indonesian tycoon could make quite the statement by snatching Ferrero’s coach from under his nose.
