Corriere dello Sport considers the reasons behind Erick Thohir confirming the position of coach Walter Mazzarri at Inter. One aspect is financial, with the coach on €3.3 million until 2016 letting Mazzarri go would be a costly process. It could also send the wrong messages to those in Nyon. After showing a five year plan for stability and growth to UEFA’s financial fair play officers it would surely be an own goal to go then implement a decision which incurs further financial obligations.

but if mazzarri stays we will probably not reach third place meaning no champions league ….and no champions league $$$
Hmm… if we manage to sell Kuz in January for let’s say 5-7 mil then we’ll have the money to let Mazza! And we could instead of him get on of the free agents available then…
and who do you think is stupid enough to wasted about 7 million for him? then how about mazzarri’s staff? how about the wage for new coach? his new staff? and some players he prefers? are those expend shown good intentions of this club to cleared it’s debt to uefa? i don’t think so
Am sorry to say this but Inter will not win another scudetto for at least 20 more years. That stupid Moratti has destroyed this club by leaving it a over 300 million in debts. And now with FFP it will take at least 10 years to clean that mess. I dont understand how that could happen. We were the best club in the world in 2010. And now we are loosing to Parma, Cagliari and other midtable serie A teams. What happened between 2010 to 2014 is all Morattis fault.
Moratti also win everything with Inter! If he didnt invest and made debts Inter wouldnt win half trophies that won over the past 10 years. So debts are not made during 2010-2014 period, but yes, it could be less than 300 million!
I didnt say debts were made 2010-2014. It doesnt matter when they were made. Only thing that matters is he left the club with huge debts.
It’s huge management mistake if when they renew Mazzarri’s contract, doesn’t put in performance related clause.
I agree with performance clause. I understand why ET renewed WM contract. It made sense, after all he met the initial goal of classifying inter to EL last year. This year he was supposed to get us to CL as a minimum. With 1 year of contract left there was not incentive for him (or the players to trust him) to fight to get us the CL classification, so the extra year extension was needed to secure the coach and team commitment and have a solid plan. But, they should have included a performance clause related to the CL classification.
This is the disappointing thing about Thorir giving him such a long contract after an ‘average’ season last year. Surely he should have put in a clause outlining that he would get maybe one seasons pay if he was terminated. It is a worrying situation if we have to keep Mazzarri or any manager for that matter, purely because we cannot afford to fire him!
God damn it, we can’t even afford to fire his worthless ass?…
And finally, some of them have made some sense o/
