Rumours of a rift between Mauro Icardi and Roberto Mancini had been rife the last few days after the strikers exclusion from the starting eleven in Rome. TuttoSport points out however that Mancini has spoken to Icardi and explained how he wants to help him develop technically as a player. Mancini of course is used to dealing with players who don’t like his choices (Balotelli for example). According to the Turin based newspaper the coach has set out how he intends to develop Icardi’s game so he can be a more rounded striker.

Icardi didn’t do much this season – the reason for that was the way Inter played under WM, and if you ask me, it’s amazing that he managed to score 7 goals. Now, I really hope that he listens to what Mancini asks of him, because I have no doubt it will help him develop as a player. But to me, he doesn’t seem like the type of guy that will stay at Inter for a long time, so the dilemma will always be: Sell him for a lot of money while he’s in shape, or lose him for cheap when he’s not.
Just sell him, I dont see him developing into a top striker. Theres a reason Barca didn’t see potential in him.
well, Icardi is typical classic finisher, sharp in the box. but that’s it, it’s the only thing he can do.
modern football require more than that.
not saying he wont be a top class striker, but in order to do so, he need to play in ‘right’ system.
The untouchable and future for Inter are Juan, Dodo and Kovacic. Icardi is not untouchable. There’s plenty of young striker that can replace him.
yea, im losing respect for icardi. the fame is already going to his head and he is still only an average young striker with potential. we could get a good price for him but we need to find proper replacement. dybala?
Zamparini would not sell him for less than 30 MM. He already said that his cost is 40+MM

Icardi is an egocentric asshole, you can see that. But he’s not dumb like Balotelli. He should be able to understand why he’s not picked every now and then. And he hasn’t been so sharp in the last games. Missed way too many against Milan. Though I would rather see him and Osvaldo as starters instead of Palacio.
And what about Palacio who have zero from the beginning of the new season? Icardi is our goalscorer for now with 7 goals in Serie A and 4 in Europa League. The only reason he’s not playing is that Mancini use Palacio like winger to help in defense and for now refuse to play with two strikes. Remember Icardi is still 21.

Actually that’s not the reason he’s not playing him. I am pretty sure he will play with Icardi, Palacio and Osvaldo very soon, but will not use Palacio / Osvaldo as a regular striker, but on one of the sides.
I don’t see three of them play together on the same time. Osvaldo and Palacio are not wingers, for me they are second striker type and i don’t understand what’s the point forcing them playing there!

Bring back – Taider, he didn`t get any playing time with Mazzarri + he is only 20 – 22
Sell – Handanovic 25 – 30 Mill ( Bing back Bardi! ) Sell Icardi 30 – 50 Mill
Buy – Cerci , Okaka , konoplyanka , Kolarov , Chiricheş

I am fully aware of who he is, and I hope he stays at Samp. Selling Icardi to bring in Okaka that has scored 2 goals in 12 games for Samp is a no no for me.

I’d rather keep Bonazzoli/Puscas as extras then, Okaka has a total of 38 goals in 188 games in serie a. Hard worker but won’t give you a boost.
Cerci is a totally different type of player compared to Icardi who is a box player. Lavezzi/Konoyplanka/Cerci/insert random name are needed to get some diversity in the strikers. Not to replace Icardi.

I’d be very happy if we can keep Icardi and get Cerci this winter, preferably on loan for starters. Somehow I feel it’s doable because Cerci seems to like the idea and he’s obviously not happy with Atleti. Besides, if I’m not mistaken Mancio and Simeone go way back and Cholo certainly would have less of a problem letting one of his players go to one of his ex clubs.

Wouldn’t sell anyone of Inter’s current strikeforce, think they’re all pretty decent just need some additions to be more versatile.
Keep dreaming Inter can get 30-50 for Icardi… Chelsea got Diego Costa for 35 at a time when he was the best striker in the world, and Torino sold Immobile who was Capocannoniere at that moment for barely 20.
Also, imagine the dip in quality we’d suffer if we change Icardi with Okaka… crazy.

Of all the players you’ve mentioned in your post above, Okaka is the only one who can play as a striker. Seems natural to me that he fits into the striker spot that would be vacated by the sale of Icardi then ^^

Not one I agree with, but fair nonetheless. I’d rather have Icardi as the primary striker, and have Osvaldo as his backup, as well as have Palacio as a supporting forward or a winger of some sort (depending on the system)
Don’t get me wrong… I want Icardi to be the new D.Milito but the problem with icardi
is that he is young. In 3 – 4 years he will join Real Madrid, and the problem with inter is that we dont have any money. Icardi is the Money bag for us
I too expect Icardi to leave sooner or later. I think he’s a bit of a poser and will undoubtedly want to join the hot shots like Real Madrid/PSG/Chelsea sooner or later, especially if Inter don’t quite reach that level in the next few years (and we probably won’t).
But I think that the team would benefit more from selling him at a later point when he will probably be worth more and when Inter will have benefited from his play enough. Icardi is growing by the minute and is by far the best striker we have on this current squad. Osvaldo is very good, but not as good as Mauro as far as the classic box goalscorer is concerned.
Yes. Keep Icardi for at least 1 and a half year! He needs to deliver, raise his value and help us in the process.

2) Konoplyanka/Kramaric/Dzsudszak/Ayew [all 2015] – we could even sign one of them in January and secure the other for summer 2015 for FREE!
3) Chiriches[loan+option]/Schär[2015]/Rolando – if required by Mancini, but not an emergency.
Don’t see us getting Lamela or Jovetic, and the same goes for Shaqiri (who would be my very last option if Inter can get the kind of money needed; I believed Pep when he said Xherdan was a bit “stupid” in football terms).
Cerci is perfectly possible as soon as January in my opinion.

Chiriches, maybe, but I’d prefer Nastasic. Think he should be pretty easy to get considering the fact that he’s not been playing at City and Mancini has the contacts to make it happen etc.

I should note that I’m all for getting Cerci ^^ Not Okaka, tho, and not selling Icardi. I consider all that perfectly doable.
Honestly, i dont think the dip would be that big, Okaka is a hard working striker, Icardi does nothing unless the ball is served on a silver plate and even then he lacks composure. Don’t get me wrong, im not saying Okaka is a deadly finisher, but i dont think things would be off for the worse. Really dont understand why so many see Icardi as our Aguero..
Mate, to be honest I think the Milan game can’t bear the verdict that Icardi lacks composure. The boy’s a terminator in front of goal, I strongly feel that he will prove it as soon as the service is decent.
On the other hand I do believe there’s been some kind of a strain with Mancini, they don’t seem to see eye to eye from the off.
But ultimately, I’m thinking that you can instill work rate in a player (Icardi), but you can’t turn a donkey into a race horse (Okaka). Okaka is decent, but we need more.

Look at what you’re saying, it’s right there. He requires decent service before he becomes the terminator, until then he’s worth as much as a pile of wood. Take away his penalties and the Sassuolo game and what do you have then?
Berbatov is probably the most stationary and lazy striker I’ve ever seen, but he still did things to contribute to the team of the ball. I haven’t seen Icardi do that yet and no wonder Mancio dropped him for the Roma game. I am all for selling him high before his form declines more.

I do believe that he can grow into one of the finest strikers in the world, but Inter should do what benefits them most. I guess they will surely evaluate how much money they can get for him and then decide.
Im hoping Mancio can get the better out of him, but the reason i dont see him becoming cream of the crop is all down to his mentality. He seems like a problem child to me and he’s too nonchalant. Humble is the keyword to development in my opinion. But hey, thats just me 🙂

Icardi, Kovacic, Ranocchia are untouchables in our squad. If Inter needs cash, they do not sell these 3! Instead, selling Handanovic for cash, and replacing him by bringing Bardi will make more sense.
