On the sidelines of the press conference ahead of tonight’s match against Qarabag, Roberto Mancini stopped to speak to Sport Mediaset and make further statements to Marco Barzaghi:
Start over again from the first half against Udinese, is this what you said to the team?
“Certainly, it was a very positive note so we must surely go from there.”
Several times in the conference you said you want a good test and that this team needs faith. So even after a match far away it is important to do well?
“Of course. Even if it’s a game that does not count for the ranking there will be players who have played less and others who come from injuries, therefore they need to play to get some minutes in their legs and can be useful for the matches to come. It will be an important game.”
Also important for the many youngsters in the squad, especially Bonazzoli: could he get more space?
“Yes. Bonazzoli is one of many, we have brought a few here. We are very young and I think for someone there will be a chance to play.”
Someone has suggested that Nemanja Vidic, who is not along on the trip due to the flu, will leave in January. Do you count on him and try to involve him more? And do you think that he will give important answers?
“I heard from Vidic yesterday that he had this problem flu, he came to the airport and was not in condition to leave. He did not play against Milan and then then he had physical problems, which is why he did not train much with us. If he will be healthy he will certainly be useful to the team, with the experience he has.”
Do you want those who play against Qarabag to make it difficult for you?
“Yes, as I said before there are players who I have not seen because of injuries and who were not in condition to play. For some of them it will be an important game.”
