The General Director of Inter Marco Fassone speaks to the microphones of Mediaset Premium after the Europa League draw in Nyon which puts the Nerazzurri against Celtic Glasgow in the knockout phase of the Europa League:
“All the opponents were strong, it’s an important competition, we do not live in nostalgia, and we look forward trying to do our best.”
Pressure from Milan for third place?
“We feel the pressure of a ranking that we did not think we can achieve at the beginning, now we have to get points and go up the table.”
“The Europa League is one of the roads to get to the Champions League, we have to try to win it. There are five challenging rounds to get to Warsaw, we start from this and do our best to reach there.”
What about the Transfer Market?
“We have to discuss it with the coach, the sporting director and the president. With Mancini we have been clear from the beginning and he has shared the views of the project, we will have to be compatible with the rules of the Financial Fair Play. I spoke with the guys at UEFA in Nyon here, we must be careful not to operate in a way that breaches our portfolio in January.”
European commitment or the League?
“All the teams in the Europa League and the Champions league are facing two competition. For a time now we will not have this problem, we look at the next five games of the season trying to make the most possible points out of them. When we arrive at the beginning of February we will look at the standings and with the coach will take the most appropriate decisions. Our Academy is one of the best in recent years though we have not exploited our resources. Mancini is very attentive to the youngsters, observes the youth well and requests information.”
