Marco-Materazzi

In the first semi-final play-off to enter the final of the inaugural Indian Super League (ISL), Chennaiyin FC, lead by Marco Materazzi, lost 4-3 on aggregate to Kerala Blasters FC.

Chennaiyin had taken the lead just before the stroke of half time when Materazzi’s swinging corner was headed home by ex-Arsenal man Mikael Silvestre. However, by the end of 90 minutes, the game was leveled at 3-3 going into extra time.

Materazzi’s side were looking more dangerous going forward but it all changed in the 104th minute when the Matrix was sent off. Kerala, who had been playing with 10 men since the 28th minute, pounced on the opportunity and emerged victorious.
