TMW: Silvestre will not renew with Inter

Whew. Right? Well maybe not so much.

While the 30 year-old Argentine defender is playing on loan at Sampdoria, his contract is set to expire this summer. That means the player Inter spent upwards of €9 million for just two years ago will, in all likelihood, be leaving on a free.

Sampdoria is working on retaining the player but others are knowledgable of his expiring contract. He has played 800 minutes in 10 appearances for them this term.

“The opportunity might be too good for other clubs,” writes Tuttomercatoweb. FC Porto, Galatasaray, and even Roma are following the situation closely.

Author’s note: THIS is what destroys a club like Inter. THESE are the deals that have brought us to our knees. His initial deal was a €3 million loan deal that included %50 of Emiliano Viviano’s rights (who now plays alongside him)…not including interest, with a buy-out clause of €6 million. His contract was the cherry on top; €1.5 million per year. Yet another disastrous deal. While I may be happy to never see him in our colors again, I hate to see yet another player we spent, no…wasted, so much on leave for nothing. Incompetence of the highest order from the top. Even if his stock has fallen, we should have sold him much earlier, even if for beans. Because now, we won’t get jack for this flop, let alone beans.

But maybe that’s just me.
