La Gazzaetta dello Sport’s first edition of the year reports that Inter are ready to close in on Podolski as Ausilio is concentrating all his work to get the German striker to Inter. Yesterday Podolski was not on the bench against Southampton where Arsenal lost 2-0, with the official statement of the club saying that it’s because of a muscular problem.
Meanwhile, contacts between Inter and Arsenal continued, with many faxes and emails sent and the situation would in fact be acceptable now, as Arsene Wenger commented before the game that Inter’s offer is more acceptable now after labeling it as a joke and ridiculous before, the €0.5 million which Arsenal asked for will be compensated from the Salary of the striker who is more than willing to sacrifice this money in order to make it to Inter.
