Tavecchio: 2015 will be A Year of Reforms

The new and controversial president of the FIGC, Carlo Tavecchio, spoke on “Radio Uno Rai” today and announced that 2015 will be a year of reforms in Italian football. The president outlined that the Italian sport system has begun to have issues with a serious decline in the resources available and the shrinking of individuals with private wealth who are coming to assist.

The president also spoke about specific reforms he would like to say. The first of which was his desire to shrink the Serie A to 18 teams, with 20 in the Serie B and removing the Lega Pro. The rationale for this being that revenues from television rights are rising; however, reducing the users within the system will increase the resources for those who remain.
