Gary Medel has not lost hope to reach the top three of Serie A. Interviewed by the Chilean newspaper La Cuarta, Pitbull speaks of this first part of the season for Inter, where he arrived this summer: “They were a little complicated, these first months, the group has paid for it and now we are not in the places a club like Inter should be. But I am confident that at the end of the championship we will be at least in the top three. Being a starter at Inter from the first game in Italy is not an easy thing. It certainly takes a process of adaptation: Italian football is more tactical than English, and therefore I have to acclimate.”

Medel aims to become the reference point of the Nerazzurri as he is for the Chilean national team: “I’ve earned that over time, and because I am more mature. It is a joy and at the same time a great responsibility, I hope to be a leader for a long time.” Medel also explains what is his favorite position on the pitch: “I like to play as a central defender, in the national team I play where I am placed. But my natural position is on the midfield, in front of the defense, that’s where I like to play most.” Finally, he was asked if would like to return to the Universidad Catolica, the club where he grew up: “I’m a fan of Cato, if there was a chance in the future I would be happy. But first I want to break through with Inter.”
