The Italian adventure begins for Marcelo Brozovic, now an Inter player. The Croatian midfielder, formerly with Dinamo Zagreb, has arrived in Milan. Tomorrow he will do medical visits, then he will be the Meazza to attend Inter-Torino. “I am happy”, was what the player said after landing.

I saw his picture with kovacic, and made stiff face expression as well. I guess that face is his usual pose. Teehee
Some of my thoughts on Brozovic and how he will be used…
From what I’ve seen of the player himself, and from what I’ve read in the media these days, it’s inaccurate to compare Brozovic to Xavi. If there is a player that I would compare him to, it would probably be Thiago Motta – only a bit more offensive and technical. Other than that, they’re very much alike in that they are both good tacklers, highly intelligent in a footballing sense, very hard working etc.
As for how Brozovic will be utilized, under the assumption that he will be a starter, I can see a couple of scenarios.
1. In a 4-2-3-1 system, Brozovic would start alongside Medel, and Kovacic would get the assignment to come deep to collect the ball and organize further to make up for the minor lack of creativity and vision in the middle of the pitch.
2. The other option I’ve had in mind recently is that Mancini could turn to a 4-3-3 instead of a 4-2-3-1 and put Kovacic back in midfield, not only to help Brozovic, but to get the best out of both worlds. It has been no secret that Kovacic himself wants more space, something he doesn’t get too much as trequartista. This way the wide players that Mancini brought in (Podolski + Shaqiri) still get to play and feed Icardi, and the middle is better covered with 3 players (Kovacic/Hernanes+Medel+Brozovic/Guarin), especially considering the fact that Inter’s defense is in shambles right now.
As for Inter, things are as unpredictable as they get for them right now. They’re a mile off 3rd place (7 points behind a stabilizing Napoli and currently 8 points behind a fantastic Lazio; not to mention Sampdoria who have acquired Eto’o and Muriel this winter and are lying 7 points ahead as well.)
If they don’t keep 3rd place, their financial predicament will be unbearable and they will probably have to sell at least one of Handanovic/Icardi (which is a huge loss, especially if neither signs a contract extension before the end of the season).
Inter are yet to make key investments to fix the defense, though the imminent acquisition of Murillo from Granada seems encouraging, as I’ve heard a great deal of good things about him.
Also, Ausilio has to be commended for the work he’s been doing so far, especially in the creative solutions to getting Shaqiri and Brozovic; but also for the fact that he is apparently about to get rid of Kuzmanovic, M’Vila and perhaps also Krhin, but most of all right now – Osvaldo. I’m sorry Osvaldo is leaving as he was a good player, but since he already is I hope that Inter don’t suffer anything legally for banning him from the training grounds. Also, considering the fact that he is a quality player, he makes for good leverage, and Milan’s interest in him could be a great advantage for Inter, as Mancini is rumored to want De Jong to come to Inter if Milan are to get Osvaldo.
Clock is ticking for Inter, turbulent period ahead.
i watched lazio game against poor milan and they just like napoli, samp and fiorentina are definitely not stronger than inter we really have good chance to finish third there are 54 points to play for
We’ll see how we play tomorrow 🙂
My thoughts are that if we can achieve this by the end of the month, I will dream about 3rd place. If not, I’m not very hopeful.
Give Milan Osvaldo, they need a striker, and even some minor cash if needed and get De Jong (another of Mancini’s ex players) to be Medel’s alternative (or vice versa). Osvaldo and Mexes will murder each other in training.
Sell Kuzmanovic, Krhin, M’Vila (already done by the looks of it)…
Then, if possible, get Murillo.
hahaha yes mexes is maybe more crazy than osvaldo i like this formation but i dont see milan will give de jong than theyr midfield will be as sassuolos
Well, they’ve got Muntari, Montolivo, Poli and even Essien (none except maybe Montolivo as good as De Jong, but fuck it…).
They don’t have a classic striker, though. SES, Honda, Menez, Bonaventura, Cerci all good forwards, but none of them is a striker. And Pazzini is… well, Pazzini.
And we want to get rid of Osvaldo. And Osvaldo wants a big club (meaning not Cagliari or Genoa).
I’d seriously offer Osvaldo and maybe even some cash to pull this off.
Replace de jong with yaya toure it will perfect! haha
I honestly don’t believe it’s possible for us to sign Toure, especially not this winter 🙂
As far i’ve seen, our inter is missing the player who can control the tempo and pick up the pass from medel (as our ball winner) and deliver to 3- attacking man as we’re using 4-2-3-1
Guarin is always inconsistent, one match brililant, and another match dreadful
so i hope brozovic is our solution to inter midfiled
I m predicted that we will not reach 3rd in the end of season, BUT we will win the Euro Cup and get that golden tickets to Champions League without play-off :p
Actually…

Read this 🙂 It says Brozovic is not really our man for the job and he requires support from Kovacic (as by far the best midfielder we’ve got).
On the other hand, Kovacic could be much more comfortable in midfield than behind the striker. It gives him more space, and he’s got pace and dribbling skills to burst through.
This gives Brozovic a good partner and “liberates” Kovacic.
And Icardi still gets decent service via Shaqiri and Podolski, + Kovacic and Brozovic burst ahead.
+ the defense is better covered with 3 in midfield instead of 2.
I posted a picture as a reply to one of the comments below about what I think would be most appropriate for us. If it happens I’ll be over the moon with joy.
Well I also think the same that brozovic resembles thiago motta rather than xavi. He also reminds me of kuzmanovic as well haha.
Hopefully a lot better than Kuz, though 🙂
He should be if half of the things I’ve seen of him and read about him these days are true 🙂
Kristijan, sempreinter should hire you. 🙂
Nice write up, not just in this article.
Hahah thanks mate 🙂
I’m happy to contribute here as long as it provokes discussions 🙂
he was robbed at airport or what? he looks like that
so this is pretty much official then? just a medical and signing on the dotted line to complete right?
He looks afraid! Don’t be brozo, you’re better than kuzmanovic
welcome to inter marcelo
Doesn’t look that happy 😛
Doesn’t look that happy 😛
Doesn’t look that happy 😛
He’s nervous….lol..Well, probably he’s upset since no fans were waiting for him at the airport…
guess so XD
guess so XD
I thought the same but I saw a comment someone said he arrived with a private jet so no fans knew when he would arrive but that is someone assuming, so maybe I’m wrong 🙂
I believe he’s very confused considering the fact that he so suddenly left his homeland.
I doubt it’s because he didn’t want Inter, he hardly would have said yes if that was the case, as he had other offers coming too 🙂
