Guarin: “Mancini’s confidence important”

Two goals, assists and a performance to be framed. Fredy Guarin spoke to Sky after the 4-1 in Bergamo: “The best Guarin since I came to Inter? It’s a particular time, things were not going well before. Now positive performances are coming and we have to take advantage of them. Mancini? Obviously the confidence of a coach is essential for the individual, as in my case, but also for the team. Confidence, motivation and enthusiasm will always be important. Now I feel very good and I thank him and his staff, but also my teammates.”

The celebration after the goal that meant 3-1 was not taken well by the fans of Atalanta: “I dedicatie it to my children, I had the shirt underneath the match shirt. I did not mean to insult anyone, I apologize if the celebration was interpreted badly. But I’m not resentful.”

What was most important for personal growth: the position on the pitch or the confidence of Mancini? “A little of everything, even the confidence of the team. Obviously Mancini was very important, as well as starting to win.”

Now Guarin can be a leader of this Inter? Just missing a little continuity and credibility in midfield? “It’s different than those who have won everything. It’s obvious that people like me who have been here in the team the longest must give a little more, both on and off the pitch.”

On scoring goals two rounds in a row: “Even at Porto I did that. But I repeat, confidence is everything, then the goals comes as a consequence.”
