Mancini: “In football everything can change in a matter of minutes”

Inter’s coach Roberto Mancini spoke to the media in his post match press conference and had the following to say:

What are your ideas of this first-leg tie? “We started of very well with scoring two goals and maybe thought it was going to be easy and through inexperience then conceded two goals. I’m not surprised that 2-0 wasn’t enough. In football everything can change in a matter of minutes. The result is good for us but the tie is still open.”

Did you expect more from Guarin and Icardi? “Fredy can’t always guarentee a top-class performance, Icardi didn’t go forward as much, but it was good for him to play and regain his fitness.”

Is Shaqiri crucial for the team? “I’m dissapointed because of the draw. Xherdan can play in many positions and is improving physically.”

What indication does this game give to the second-leg? “It will be a totally different game where the audience here are crucial for their teams performance. We are going to do our part to win in the second-leg.”

Why did Carrizo play instead of Handanovic? “I choose Carrizo because he has previously played in the Europa League. There are no other reasons and in any case he is a very good goalkeeper”

Any comments on Guidetti? “He is a good guy, I was very pleased to see him again. He is the second player besides Moretti who  scored a last minute goal on us”

What happened with Vidic? “Nothing, when Ranocchia got hurt I asked him to get ready quickly.”

Why is the defence conceding so many goals? “What we have to understand is that if you defend too deep, sooner or later you are going to concede a goal.”
