Former Inter captain and current president Javier Zanetti was interviewed in the tv-show Tiki Taka and his words were referred by Inter.it:
“I owe Inter so much, because the club gave me everything. When I arrived in Milan I was practically unknown, but over the years I won everything and even became captain of the club. Wearing the Nerazzurri shirt was an honour. I went into each battle with the aim of taking Inter to the top and in the end we managed it. The fans gave me some incredible moments.”
Zanetti continued talking about his “Zanetti & Friends, Match for Expo” charity event, set to be held at San Siro on Monday 4 May:
“It’ll be a match with lots of my friends, a celebration for Milan and for the Expo. There’ll be lots of players who have gone down in the history of Inter and AC Milan, such as Matthäus, Brehme, the Baresi brothers, Roberto Baggio, Zamorano, Maldini and Costacurta. I hope there’ll be lots of fans too, to help us to raise funds for associations involved in charity work in the city of Milan.”
The vice-president finished the interview talking about Inter’s current situation and also the derby against Milan:
“We all want to contribute so that the team can return to the top. President Thohir is very involved and is trying to build a good side. This is his first full year in charge, so we need patience. He’s giving everything to take Inter back to the top.It really is a special derby. It’s a match that can give us an important boost for the season finale so that we can build something important for the future. We want to be competitive again from next year.”
