Mateo Kovacic has caught a lot of flack during the last year as he could not find the consistency fans expected of him.

He did have many interesting and important stats however, which helped him build a strong case for staying at Inter. One of which shows that the Croatian playmaker recorded the most completed passes in the final (attacking) 25 meters of the pitch. The 21 year-old completed 615 passes in the final third in just 2,463 minutes. The next closest player in this regard was Franco Vazquez of Palermo with 595 danger area passes completed in 3,224 minutes.

A very intriguing statistic is that of completed through balls (played behind the defense) per game in the league. Inter’s Kovacic leads the league with 0.3 per game with Hernanes a close second.
