Murillo: “I work hard to become the best defender”

He is one of the new faces on the squad of Inter. After the first outings in a friendlies, Jeison Murillo presents himself for the Inter fans through Inter Channel: “I’m happy to be here, as I said the day of my arrival in Milan. I want to take this opportunity that God gave me and that gave me Inter.”

Speaking of his characteristics, the central Colombian said: “I think Inter’s style of play fits well to my skills. I am a quick player, with good timing and character. Off the pitch I am a very calm and cheerful guy but on the pitch I change. Being here is an opportunity to prove myself and to give my contribution to the team.”

He then discussed the experience in Copa America: “It was a great occasion, it allowed me to show off in a competition of international level. To have been awarded as the best young player of the tournament is a prize that rewards me for all the efforts. I thank God and all those who believed in me.”

Then the inevitable question on comparisons with Ivan Cordoba: “I think he’s a great man, not only for my country but also for Inter. I am similar to him when it comes to the characteristics, the way of playing and of course for the field position. But I hope to make my way inside the club and give my best for the good of the team.”

He finished by talking about the relationship with Roberto Mancini and the objectives for the season that is about to begin: “The coach prepares you well physically and works hard on the tactic. I knew it would be like that in Italy and he is helping me a lot in my growth. If  he will give me the chance to play I will do everything to repay the trust. Inter is a great team and here we must always think about winning. The team always aims for the top and this energy infects you. Then I don’t ever sit down and I’m used to demand more and more of myself. I work to one day become the best defender.”
