The market ended just a week ago and the season has yet to gain momentum but already we look to understand what will happen in the corporate strategies of Inter.
What catches the eye, in fact, is that out of all the players in the squad, only four are out of contract next June: Rodrigo Palacio, Yuto Nagatomo, Tommaso Berni and Nemanja Vidic.
All cases that are different from each other, but the focus today is on the Argentine attacker who since joining Inter in June 2012 has made 121 appearances, scoring 53 goals and contributing 25 assists.
Palacio has always been a player who has sacrificed himself for the shirt and who has contributed to the end, sometimes even playing through injury.
To date however, the situation is on standby, his contract will expire next June and there hasn’t been an offer of renewal and from what our partners at FcInterNews.it believe, there are no scheduled appointments with the club to make us feel otherwise.
What is the will of the player? Palacio despite always having good words for his experience at Inter has never ruled out a return to Argentina to end his career. This desire could weigh more than any contract talks but the time to clarify will come soon.

He was never that good. He lacks the killer instinct. If he leaves , i think its for the best, he is old and inter needs new blood. But i need to praise his hard working spirit, but i was never a fan! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/36649cee150c6a9c21104b581ccf1926e586e2f77f46777e4e7c8e1459219da7.jpg
Inter deserves a new “MILITO”
I like Palacio, even though he’s a shadow of his former self. He’s never complained about anything for all these years, always sacrificed himself for the others. He’s not your typical leader, but a really hard worker that contributes his team. He can still be useful as a sub, but he needs to cut his salary.
I remember once he told if he win schudetto, he’ll cut his rattail and I want him to win it this season.
that’s something i will like to see…
reminds me of Milito their injuries cause them kicked out from this team..i hope we could extend his contract until the end of the season..If we get the scudetto he will me remembered maybe not as a legend but worth to be remembered..
He has contract until the end of this season, but he’s free to talk to other clubs from this January.
He was good only in his first season. “Gives his all” means nothing if your all is not good enough. Bye bye. Old, average, high wage…what more reasons do we need to let him go?
He has one more season left in him, I see he has lost a step, but he still seems to get into good positions to score and no matter what always bleeds for the team. We have to look for another prodigy striker for life after palacio, whether that be puscas or someone like embolo or konaté.
yes to embolo but thohir won’t pay that much for him to be a sub
my brain tell me pallacio is finish, no need to extend his contract.. but my hearth tell me that pallacio is the player that always sacrifice himself for the shirt, and we should extend his contract(in the right term).. last year despite of his injury he still make the most run in every games that he played.. his performance is decline a lot, but if he don’t mind to sit on the bench and receive a pay cut, i hope we extend his contract..
I know what you mean. I’d feel bad for him if we didn’t extend the contract, he has been a quality and loyal servant, but if his form continues to be poor for the rest of the season then it wouldn’t be wise to do so, tough decision but ultimately the right one…..
i hope we make a good decision for his future.. this guy has a good fighting spirit, i wouldn’t mind to keep him on the bench if we can cut his salary.. he can be a mentor for our young player like manaj..
mentor needs to be of a good game character but palacio tends to complain a lot, also you dont waste a bench place for someone who lost 2 major things his speed and tactical awareness, he seems more lost in games and makes very basic mistakes, i wont complain about wasting chances because he is not a pure 9, he currently cant help the team as much as we hope for, only postive thing this season to keep him was to provide stability because he knows the team but he just can’t play with intensity for long period of time which is such a shame because that would have saved some of his other qualities.
anyway he will always be appreciated and thanked for his great previous seasons performances / sacrifices
aggree with you that he has decline a lot, but i’ve never hear any complain from him(am i missing something here!?).. in my oppinion he can be a good mentor.. his fighting spirit alone need to be transfer to our young player, not to mention his experience.. 🙂
i agree he would make a good mentor if he had morale of past seasons (perhaps before injury) because such thing i mentioned regarding shouting at other players which (i observed from watching Inter games only) would be easy to get over by young players, but when you are not performing as you should then even average players wont take you seriously …
he would be ok if he was at other position like central midfielder where responsibility shortcomings can be covered by other quality players, something like a captain, as you saw in Totti and Pirlo but not when you depend on him front , specially we INTER rely too much on our forwards players to create something..
he was a beast of player but now we need younger experienced winger to be of a sub since Jovetic can fill the void palacio would create.
i rememebr not a while ago he said that his foot ankle still hurts but trying his best , perhaps inter pushing him to not have operation last year since wouldnt be able to replace him art such time, but i doubt INTER would keep him…
but the least we should do is support him with his operation and help him recover and perhaps let him go to his fav Argentina Boca juniors club…
sorry for this lengthy reply x) …. anyway i respect your view on this matter.
it’s okay my friend.. i respect your opinion.. ^^
respect each other, what a beautiful gesture from both of you my friends *hugs *lol
Dude, Palacio is undeservedly one of the top earners of the club for 2 years now. I think we have paid him back this way. Inter is not a retirement house as I said before. He definitely deserves a beautiful farewell game and a lot of cheering from us, but he needs to go at the end of the season. Like Samuel, Cambiasso, Milito, etc. We could use the savings in his wages to pay the younger, faster, Lavezzi next season.
i know what you mean, that’s why i said if he don’t mind to receive a paycut..^^
Even in that case, how much we are talking about? Palacio is earning 3.2m a year, Gnoukori 100K a year, Manaj (his replacement) 80 k a year. It’s just better to give Manaj more playing time.
we can’t compare palacio to manaj dude.. manaj is a young and unproven player.. palacio is acomplice player that have decline so there will be different treatment for both of them.. ^^
1M per year is okay..so he can transfer his knowledge to those youngster and his attitude towards potential stars that we currently have
I’d surely keep him if he agrees to have a wage cut . He always gives his all .
i’d rather pay that wage for someone else. not good enough as a sub.
Man if only he could go back to being awesome like he was… sadly he’s a shadow to his former self
He gave his all to Inter, now he is not in shape anymore… Thank you Palacio and good luck
i swear if tohir didnt renew his contract till u retire with inter then he understand nothing about soccer , hes one of our fighter all he time and that unfair to leave him like this . he always was good and still so good with us . mancini do something
meh, if inter can’t do something with it’s own legend like cuchu let alone to palacio.. but it’s would be kind if inter renew palacio if he still want continue with us with not guarantee first team and willing to reduce his wage
You need to move on in football sometimes. That definitely doesn’t mean that we act like Real did with its legends Casillas and Raul. But Inter is not a retirement house. If Zanetti is a legend it’s because he maintained his form, and he could still had been a starter when he hang his boots. On the other hand Palacio doesn’t belong to starting line up, has a hefty wage bill, and a shadow of his former self. We need to let him go, to save on his wages, and also open up a place for a youngster to get more playing time.
Players come and go, what remains for us is always INTER.
