Adem Ljajic refrains from adding further to the controversy following referee David Fernandez Borbalan’s decisions during the game that the Serbian national team lost yesterday against Portugal. While other comrades have had things to say, and lots of them, about the direction of the match, the striker preferred not to indulge in comments: “I don’t speak of the referees, I don’t want to trigger controversy. To me they are protected as heads of state, but that’s football. we improve every game, I think for long stretches we played better even though we had many injured players. However, we are making progress, we didn’t deserve to lose.”
Ljajic also commented on the comparison, launched by Vladimir Jugovic, to former Serbian great Dragan Stojkovic: “It makes me happy, but we must be realistic: I’m not at his level.”
