Ex Inter striker Christian Vieri has been speaking about the current moment of the Nerazzurri in an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Are Inter a serious contender for the Scudetto?
“They are a serious Scudetto candidate, thank to Mancini, a champion who understands football like few others in the world. In six months he has changed Inter from a normal team to a candidate for the title. Many of Inter’s champions have chosen the club thanks to Roberto.”
Are Inter playing bad football?
“I have to laugh when people say Inter play badly. Don’t they remember the condition Inter were in a few months ago? The defence was the first problem to solve and Mancini did it. You win a Scudetto with a good defence and from now a lot of things will work even in attack. The enthusiasm is back and the San Siro is often packed, when the stadium is full it puts fear into opponents. The ‘Mancini’ effect is obvious.”
The current form of Mauro Icardi?
“To win the Scudetto, Icardi needs to score. I think it’s time for him to take a further step forward, now he has to play for the team, to move more on the offensive front, to be busy so he can be seen with more continuity and to train with even more enthusiasm and determination. I, for example when I hadn’t scored in a few matches, not very often to be honest (laughs), I worked harder in training every day. Icardi is too important for Inter.”
