Javier Zanetti has stressed that Inter are fully focused on Sunday’s match against Sassuolo, despite the transfer rumours circulating around the club.

Speaking ahead of kick-off, Zanetti declared:

“There is a long way to go in the transfer market and we’re focused on this match. We have time to think about everything. Lavezzi would do well at any club, Mertens is another great player. Ranocchia hasn’t had much playing time but nobody’s questioning his quality. We’ll decide his future together because he’s a great guy.”

Asked specifically about Jonathan Calleri, Zanetti replied:

“They’re saying it’s done in Argentina but there’s nothing official. He’s not coming to Inter right now, though we did follow him and his quality is beyond question.”

Finally, Zanetti spoke about current Inter captain Mauro Icardi:

“He’s a leader in the dressing room. He’s very young and still has a lot to learn but he helps his team-mates and is improving all the time. We think very highly of him because he’s very valuable both on the pitch and off of it. We all want the group to do well and it’s good to have a leader like him.”
