Moratti: “Deal aimed at bringing Inter back to the top”

Massimo Moratti joined many others in expressing his feelings towards Inter’s new deal with Pirelli: “The key aspect is linked to the desire to stay together and continue to build. Our relationship with Pirelli has not only brought us global prestige, it’s also meant that we’ve been able to work with people who are able to understand the club from a sporting and business sense. This is a cornerstone for continuing to make progress together.”

Moratti continued: “The efforts Inter and Pirelli put into this contract are an attempt to bring the team back to the heights of the game. Even this year we could achieve big things if we remain focused. It’s always a pleasure to be reminded about the past and today I’m experiencing Inter with the same passion under the current president Erick Thohir. Looking around and seeing all these shirts is a wonderful thing, it sums up all the emotions, efforts and successes we enjoyed. The hope is that we experience new triumphs with this partnership.”

With nine games to go until the end of the season, how do you think Inter fans are feeling?
“Inter fans are never satisfied and that’s why the club is lucky to have them. Our supporters are fantastic because as much as they despair and think pessimistically when aren’t going so well, they are quick to look on the bright side when we win. They have the ability to bounce back and support the team. Every game offers the opportunity to get the fans right behind the players.”

Will you continue the partnership with Mr Thohir?
“Of course we want to go further and I think it’s possible, barring any serious shocks for the club and shareholders.”

FCIN – How much of a hand did you have in the Pirelli contract renewal?
“The contract was never in doubt, there were only a few things to clear up. I was pleased to see Pirelli with the same enthusiasm they had at the start. This means they trust us. Also, Tronchetti is an Interista and that’s the most important thing!”
