Provera: “Basic figure is €12m but could be doubled depending on success”

CEO of Pirelli Marco Tronchetti Provera shared his thoughts on the new deal and revealed the figures involved: “I’ve spent 20 exciting years alongside Moratti and I believe Inter have been accurately portrayed in what’s been said. The main relationship with the fans and the team, the respect of fans and sport are values which unite us.” Provera continued: “We’re a global company and we want our supporters around the world to be Inter fans. Erick Thohir’s commitment is crucial, Moratti is still as passionate as ever and the players have to feel these values when they put on the Nerazzurri colours. We have to continue down this road. The world is a bigger place than ever before, which is a frightening prospect for many, but it also offers countless opportunities. Sport brings people together and is fundamental for young people. Inter Campus are the example here, in providing opportunities to thousands of children around the world. We have to move forward with all of this and our partnership also unites in our shared values. We want to have success around the world and we’ll be behind Inter more than ever before.” What would it take for Inter to win the treble again? “The magic of that Inter side came from the atmosphere in the dressing room. The strength of a side owes a lot to its spirit and the spirit of a team comes from the dressing room. We have a good team and the president wants to keep moving forward, as do we the sponsors. Moratti is still following Inter with the same passion. Spirit is important and the take-home message from this event is for the dressing room. With the right spirit, the sky’s the limit.” Can you reveal the numbers involved in the deal? “A significant portion is performance-related. The basic figure is around €12 million, which could be doubled if the club were to win every trophy available. This shows our desire to incentivise the team’s performance.” Do you envisage celebrating more silverware? “The five-year contract is a clear sign that we wish to proceed with the same commitment and priorities that have brought us success over the past 20 years. That success will inspire the squad.” Moments later provera spoke with Inter Channel: “My favorite jersey is the classic Inter jersey, I will always have it in my heart. We want to continue with the spirit with those who accept a challenge to make the fans happy. We want to demonstrate that we are an example in football. Inter need to have a great dressing room in this regard and it has that. We share the same values as well as the will to win together and this is important. Inter has a glorious history and the players should feel honored to be able to wear this shirt.” Source: FCInterNews.it
