Nani may well return to BPL while Serie A and BBVA take notice also

Nani may be ready to make the most of his €8 million release clause by activating it and returning to the English Premier League. The Portugal international established himself as one of the division’s most dangerous creative players during six seasons at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson in which he won four League titles, the League Cup, the Champions League and a FIFA Club World Cup.

Louis van Gaal, however, granted Nani just 45 minutes of competitive playing time before loaning him to Sporting for the 2013-14 campaign, then controversially sold the forward to Fenerbahce for just €6m last July. Former United captain Rio Ferdinand recently named Nani as one of nine players Van Gaal had offloaded who remained superior to individuals the Dutchman preferred for his first team.

Nani, 29, has produced two successful seasons away from Old Trafford, scoring 12 times in 38 appearances for Sporting, whom he helped win their first trophy in seven years, while performing particularly well in the Portuguese club’s Champions League campaign. He has been similarly important to Fenerbahce’s attempt to regain Turkey’s Super Lig – the Istanbul club currently lie three points behind leaders Besiktas with 10 fixtures to play.

The opportunity to resume his Premier League career in a country and a division to which he is already well adapted, though, is understood to be attractive to Nani. There is also interest in his release-clause availability in Italy and Spain.
