In an interview in today’s Il Corriere dello Sport, current Genoa coach and former Inter coach spoke about his short time in Milan: “An experience that, even though it had not even begun, was already over. I took over after the experiments with Benitez and Leonardo. At the time I was on the rise and the playing style of my teams was really liked, but the team was in the descending phase of its magnificent trend. They had won everything with Mourinho and many were in physical decline, as would be seen later. I was convinced that I could rebuild the team and give new psychological and competitive spirit. But I’m afraid that the only who was convinced of this possibility was just me. not the players, not the club. In short, I wasn’t accepted, with my methods which involved an intense and new way of working and I wasn’t supported. After three weeks I was sacked. I’m sorry. I wanted to turn on the battery ia a motor that had stopped. I didn’t succeed. Rather, we didn’t succeed.”
