Gazzetta dello Sport have boldly suggested Joao Mario is just one step away from joining Inter. The finish line is in sight and negotiations to close the deal are ongoing. Inter will acquire the European champion for 40 million euro upfront and Sporting could receive a further 5 million in bonuses. Initally, Sporting were reluctant to let him go but now it is clear he wants a move they have lessened their demands. Earlier in the summer, Suning attempted to acquire the midfielder and then loan him to Inter before selling him to them at a later date but were unsuccessful in their bid to do so. Inter need to close talks over the weekend to allow the player to undergo a medical on Monday and sign a contract, believed to be a 5-year-contract worth 3 million net a year. Sporting kick start their domestic campaign tomorrow and it is not known whether or not Joao Mario will feature.
