LUCA-MARCHETTI

Journalist Luca Marchetti used his TMW editorial to praise the work done by Inter during the summer transfer market: “Inter would probably have been competitive even without Suning’s two gifts, João Mário and Gabigol (whereby 72m was spent in one day), however the intervention of the Chinese in the transfer market was hugely significant.”

The Sky analyst continued: “Financial Fair Play had led Inter to take a more prudent course of action, though they were still able to sign functional players such as Éver Banega and Antonio Candreva.” With the announcement of Inter’s Europa League group stage squad this evening, we have since had confirmation that neither João Mário or Gabigol have been registered in order to avoid further punishment from UEFA.

Marchetti concluded by looking to Inter’s immediate future: “Over the coming months there will be an increase in revenue and sponsorships. Let us not forget how strongly Inter fought to keep Icardi in Milan. The money is there, however the results are missing.”
