Spoke to the microphones of Premium Sport after the 1-0 win over Sassuolo, Stefano Pioli applauds the performance of the Nerazzurri:

“We have to run strong, for us these games are always a turning point. There were winning away from home for so long, but today we played with intelligence and lucidity. Too bad not to have closed before the game because we could have doubled.

A physical decline? No, we held the field well. The opponent tried to recover but had only one chance. It was a difficult game, but we played with great spirit and determination, we are trying to improve on so many aspects. After the first goal we had to move more, but sometimes your opponents force you to play long and to lower the tempo.

Favorite match with Inter? I do not know, it’s hard. I liked the derby most, where we played as a team for 95 minutes, whilst today we had many goalscoring opportunities. There is satisfaction for this important victory, but it also takes concentration to think about the next match against Lazio.

Icardi? We need to give more support to Mauro who today moved very well, but we can not avail ourselves of our only striker.

Gabigol? We are working to try to grow and improve. He has quality and talent, he has had the time to learn about Italian football, now he seeks to assert himself as his colleagues at Inter.

Felipe Melo? He was had a good game, I think the second warning there was uncalled for. He has character, experience and must learn to measure out the aggression.”
