Shortly after the news of Felipe Melo officially being a Palmeira player, the Brazilian came with a statement: “It’s a dream of mine to return to Brazil, and at an age that still allows me to play at a high level. I thank God for this opportunity to come back and play in such an important club. To put on this jersey is an honor and I thank the fans for their warm welcome, one of them even contacted me before signing. I have played Copa Libertadores with clubs like Flamengo and Cruzeiro, now I come back to play this tournament with Palmeiras, a club that has the ambition to win it. I left my mark wherever I played, this is my strength. I come to Palmeiras to help out and to be helped.”
