Piero Ausilio spoke with PremiumSport on a range of topics:
Berardi or Bernardeschi?
“Pioli is a lover of good football and good players. But they are players of Sassuolo and Fiorentina and if you enjoy them, we observe and we congratulate.”
What have you to say on Suning wanting to Italianize Inter?
“This is a media thing. If we can have this opportunity we are happy to do it, now on the bench we’ve brought Pinamonti. But we must look at the quality, if there is quality in other countries, we must also look elsewhere. Verratti? Italian but playing in a foreign team that is not happy to sell him.”
Must Inter do big things in the transfer market to compete with the big clubs?
“For this year we did everything we had to do, we are pleased to have signed Gagliardini and how he has adapted in this environment, which is not comparable to that of Atalanta because you know it is not easy to play at San Siro. We have nothing to envy about those who are in front, our project started later. We are building something, time will tell if it’s the right way, I hope so.”
What has impressed you most about Pioli?
“He has so many qualities, saying one thing or two is an understatement…I do not know, I tried to get information, I was not surprised by what he gave on the field, but I was surprised about the obsessive attention to detail. I have seen many coaches here and he has the talent to follow in the footsteps of someone who has been here and won trophies. Mourinho? I mention no names, Trapattoni also won. I’ve seen many, maybe I mean people who have won elsewhere: Benitez also won elsewhere. Pioli has the qualities of a great coach.”
