“We played against a good team, we deserved to win.” are the words of Stefano Pioli who was interviewed by Premium Sport after the 3-0 victory against Pescara in the San Siro:

Pioli did not fail to point out the flaws: “We had to be more precise in handling the ball, allowing Pescara chances on certain occasions. You can not be precise for 95 minutes but these things need to be improved.”

Juventus? “We know that Sunday will be an important match but the one on Tuesday in the Italian Cup against Lazio will be crucial given that its the trophy we want. Sunday’s opponent is a different story, but let’s focus on Tuesday.”

By the arrival of Pioli different players have had a surge in their performance, but is there anyone who could give even more? “We are doing good things but I’m sure we can do better. Many are improving, we have technical, quick and intelligence players, we are working well but we are not at our best. And that should give us confidence in thinking that everything goes through the job but we have room for improvement.”

Still on the subject of the course of change in the players and the enthusiasm he found, Pioli adds: “The key was to convince the players to put aside selfishness and individuality and to put quality at the service of all. This they did it right away, I found a great desire to work by insisting on concepts such as sacrifice and teamwork. Results are giving us reason and we can get on the field every game with this mentality.”

Is there desire to rebuild something important? “The basis is there, I train a very strong team. And I was impressed by their desire to do things the right way, by doing so you can do a great job. Then the story says that Inter must win, it will not be easy and we still have to work. But we have the potential to return to winning ways.”

On the challenge of Turin: “We will go there to play our game, Inter game, with energy and will to fight.”

Gabriel Barbosa shines: “He does in every way, he grew up in the desire to train in a certain way. Maybe he had to understand a different work method, he is very young, he must understand that he is in a big league with great competitiveness and must fight for his place. There is a chance to see him at Lazio, as for others, it will be difficult, it is a challenge. We will suffer, we will see what choices I make.”
