Former Inter coach Luigi Simoni gave his thoughts to ItaSportpress on the controversy surrounding the first leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal between Juventus and Napoli, especially in comparison to the infamous penalty situation back in 1998 when his Inter were denied a penalty against Juventus when Mark Iuliano’s challenge on Ronaldo didn’t result in anything.
“I don’t want to keep dragging out what happened, it’s all in the past. Juventus strength isn’t just tied to these episodes. They are a very strong team, and we also have to take in account that the teams they are faced with aren’t at their highest point. You often have dubious decisions in football, and when you look at the past you end up dragging out old things from the past. Now is the time to forget, Juventus are the strongest team out there, the team that creates the most and this is what gives them their advantages” Simoni concludes.
