Roberto Gagliardini: “Happy to finally be scoring”

It’s been a positive yet emotional 7 day period for Roberto Gagliardini. The former Atalanta midfielder scored his first Serie A goal against Cagliari only to follow it up by scoring for the second consecutive match, this time against Atalanta, the club he left to join Inter for in January.

Inter Channel caught up with the young midfielder yesterday to ask him about how he feels about the past few days. “I’ll never forget my first goal even though the game against Cagliari was basically over,” he revealed. “We were leading 4-1 and I tried my luck after Eder had picked me out. Luckily the ball ran under an opposition player’s legs and the goalkeeper saw it late.”

“It was something I’d been looking to do for a while, it meant a lot to me because scoring was something that was missing from my game. I’m delighted to have followed that up with another one against Atalanta. Banega’s pass broke to me on the edge of the box and I hit it without even thinking. I didn’t celebrate out of respect for the club that developed me” Gagliardini concluded.
