Piero Gasperini: “It is impossible to refuse certain offers, Gagliardini for example.”

Interviewed by Il Secolo XIX, Atalanta coach Piero Gasperini spoke about his relationship with Genoa president Enrico Preziosi with focus on the issue related to the difference between a big Italian club and a smaller club:

“When I was at Genoa, Preziosi told me he had to sell players because there were fundamental needs of the budget. That was necessary to pay salaries. It was a necessity and I reluctantly understood. In Bergamo, instead, he revealed inconsistency in Italian football. This is the difference between a small group of clubs and all others. How could Atalanta, for example, refuse a such important offer for Roberto Gagliardini who has played 10-11 games? Certain figures help ensure a continuity that otherwise without it would be difficult”.
