Gianluca Zambrotta spoke on the state of Calcio to Panorama.it: “The difference between Serie A and other leagues is there for all to see. It just takes one to look at the players of Europe’s top clubs and those of our teams to realise that since Inter won the Champions League in 2010 Serie A has gradually lost in terms of player quality, with the top players all wanting to play elsewhere. But I see it as very positive because it has led many clubs to focus on young Italian players: Serie A has maybe lost the appeal it once had, but in the medium to long term our football could have a big advantage, obviously starting with the national team.”
