Talking to Radio24, Italy coach Gian Piero Ventura recalled the time when he selected Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini:
“When I first called him up, he only had 8 Serie A caps. I saw him at Atalanta and understood his qualities. Someone mocked me, and said I was drunk, but after one month, Gagliardini joined Inter in a very expensive deal. This means that if me, like Gasperini, would have not been so brave to give these young players a chance, maybe it wouldn’t have been possible for them to have these this kinds of seasons.”
