Messina: “Effective time? It’s the last major innovation missing in football”

Domenico Messina, the refereeing designator in Serie A spoke on Radio Uno Rai on the controversy surrounding Milan’s equaliser past the five minutes additional time: “Effective time? For me it is the last major innovation missing in football, it would eliminate most of the problems that arise and stops the referee deciding how long he should prolong the game. I hope it can be introduced as soon as possible, but seeing no discussion about I do not think its on the IFAB agenda for now.”
