Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp reflected on the night a Gareth Bale inspired Spurs beat Inter 3-1 in his Evening Standard column: “I swear I could hear ‘taxi for Maicon’ buzzing in my ears for a day or maybe two afterwards. At that time Inter were European champions but the whole stadium encouraged the players from the opening whistle. This was a team that had Wesley Sneijder, Samuel Eto’o and Javier Zanetti, but we beat them 3-1 and the result could have been bigger. People talk about the nights of glory at White Hart Lane and that was the best one. It was fun and totally different to the other great night that I remember against Milan. They were good times, but Tottenham have always had a great tradition for European nights.”
