Internazionale have officially confirmed that Luciano Spalletti is the new head coach, putting an end to weeks of speculation.
A statement on the club’s website revealed the news: “F.C. Internazionale is delighted to announce that Luciano Spalletti has been appointed as head coach of the first team.
“The new coach, who has signed a two-year contract, will be unveiled at a media conference at Suning Training Centre in memory of Angelo Moratti next Wednesday at 12:00 CEST. He will take his first training session with the team on Monday 3 July.”
Spalletti is an experienced coach, having had spells in Italy with Sampdoria, Venezia, Udinese, Ancona and Roma, as well as Zenit St. Petersburg in Russia.
Roma finished second in Serie A last season with 88 points, improving on their previous season in which they ended third
He has also won the Panchina d’Oro award in 2004/05 and was named Coach of the Year by the Italian Footballers’ Association in 2006 and 2007.
