Beppe Bergomi spoke on Luciano Spalleti in an interview with Corriere dello Sport: “I never had any doubts that he’d be good though, because I’ve known Luciano for a long time, I know how he works and the mentality he transmits to his teams. I don’t think he’s done anything exceptional or different from his normal approach, everyone knows how demanding he is and how intransigent he is with the rules. Nobody is allowed to violate them, because they all know what the consequences will be. Spalletti is someone who gets everyone involved, he makes you work well and you know what you have to do on the pitch. Last year Inter got 62 points, not a lot if you think about what happened. They have an important squad which will be improved be either removing some elements or adding in others in the right positions. Spalletti has already proven himself capable of increasing the performance of those who have done less in the past.”

Bergomi also discussed where he thinks Inter need to add: “They’d be completed with a trequartista, because Brozovic and Joao Mario aren’t suited to that role. Other that that, a second striker who guarantees goals because to finish in the top four you need to score 80-85 goals as a team. They also need a left-back like Dalbert, another central defender and maybe someone who hits free-kicks well.”
