Benavidez: “Inter is a global institution, I’d be ready to wear Nerazzurri”

Carlos Benavidez is one of those names who is linked with Inter for a long time. Along with the Nerazzurri, the player is also currently attracting interest from Sampdoria and Genoa. Today he gave an in depth interview to FCInternews where he discussed various aspects regarding him and football. Here it is:

What kind of childhood did you spend?
“Normal. I have always lived with my mom, who has accompanied me in everything from football to life!”

How would you rate yourself as a student? or did you always want to play football?
“I was a good scholar. Whenever I wasn’t in the classroom, I was busy playing football.”


Who was your idol?
“Ronaldinho”.

And from current players?
“There are two: Nainggolan and Iniesta.”

What kind of player are you?
“Aggressive and good technical marking”.

Why is number 8 so important to you?
“I’ve been wearing it since I started playing school football.”

What was the most important game you played so far?
“My debut in Defensor’s color against Nacional at the Franzini stadium The end result didn’t matter.”

What is your most beautiful dream related to football?
“Become Champion with Uruguay at South American Under-20 Championship in Ecuador”.

How soon you think you will be playing for the national team?
“Everyone dreams of defending the national colors of their own country, I hope it will happen soon. I hope Master Tabarez will call soon.”

In Italy we talk a lot about you. What do you know about Serie A?
“One of the best leagues in the world. I will be lucky to play there. My family will be proud of myself.”

What do you know about Inter? Would you like to play?
“A global institution. A team in which many Uruguayans have triumphed, and where Matias Vecino has just arrived recently.”

Would you be ready for the A Series?
“I have a lot of confidence. Only time can tell that.”

And what do you know about Genoa and Sampdoria? Would you have a preference if you were to move?
“I have read the news about interest through my agent Javier Hernandez. In Genoa there is Diego Laxalt, who grew up in the Defensor Sporting. While Sampdoria have Ramirez.”

Inter is clearly better known. Would you feel ready to wear the colours?
“Yes, of course. As I said, I am very confident.”

What is your dream in the world of football?
“Playing in a top league and defending the colors of my national team.”

What European team do you choose when playing at the Play Station?
“Fiorentina for its way of defending”.

And what is your dream out of the field?
“To have a happy family with the beloved ones.”
