Tuttosport – Icardi no goals from open play for a month. No fouls on him in 4 games!

Tuttosport have sounded the alarm: S.O.S. Mauro Icardi.

The Argentine striker hasn’t scored a goal from open play in a month since the two goals he scored against Roma in week 2 of the current Serie A season. SInce then he has scored just two penalties against SPAL & Bologna. “This has happened before in previous seasons, inevitably the argument begins to rage against the Inter Captain: Is his movement not good enough or is the team not creating enough for him – Tuttosport goes on – it’s an age old argument for them & as the last 4 games from Inter have shown us, it’s still a problem today.

Against Crotone & Bologna it was fair to say that Icardi didn’t do enough for the team & was rarely a danger to oppposition defence, but against Genoa it was much clearer to see that the team didn’t do enough for their captain who was left waiting for for just one playable ball in order to stamp his mark on the game. There is one fact though that more than any other shows how little he is being found by his teammates in the business end of the pitch: in the last four games Mauro has not managed a single foul against him. Zero. Nothing. Nada. This shows that opposition defenders haven’t needed to intervene & tackle Icardi with nay kind of nastiness because he hasn’t been troubling them.”
