The revival of Joao Miranda is being analysed by TuttoSport: “It was enough to change the coach and pair the Brazilian with a much stronger counter-part than Murillo (who was monstrous going forward but made too many defensive errors as a consequence) to regain all of the virtues of the captain of the Selecao, thanks to Lucian Spalletti and above all Milan Skriniar. Why not forget how Inter – before the Chinese government shut down overseas investment into Football – had taken the power house from Sampdoria’s defence with the idea of making him a starter. However, Skriniar – a product of the extraordinary development centre set up by Marco Giampaolo at Bogliasco – has convinced Spalletti to make him the partner of Miranda ever since the very first training session, an idea that is so far providing good results as shown by the only 2 goals conceded in the championship (Dzeko in Rome and Verdi in Bologna) but only that, it’s all the new mechanisms that allow the defence to concede a minimal amount”.
“If this trend continues, it will force Ausilio to open talks about a contract renewal: who is already negotiating with Handanovic (who should renew until 2021) and soon Vanheusden (who expires in 2019) while Miranda – who is also bound to Inter until 2019 – has all been postponed until the end of the season when it could be prolonged to 2020. The fact is, now it is no longer a priority to find a starting CB in January”, they say.
