“Inter was a big club like Bayern Munich, in the pre season I thought I had arrived in a top club.” Former Inter & Bayern Munich midfielder Ciriaco Sforza gives his thoughts on the game then & now.

“Italian football in 1996-1997 was different,  the most important thing was that you knew that the game was going to be played on Sunday & the rest of the week you had to work.” The former Swiss International was speaking at the “La Marsa International Football Transfer & Meeting” event organised by Conference403. “Between Inter & Bayern however there were many big differences. I remember that the changing rooms at the Pinetina were like something you’d expect from a Serie C club. Football back then wasn’t like it is now: nowadays if the group isn’t compact then the manager cannot go far. You need confidence, calmness & a positive energy even as a manager.”
