“In some ways, Recoba was better than PlayStation, some of the goals he scored on the pitch we imagined were only possible with some form of technology.” These are the words written by former Nerazzurri defender Massimo Paganin, in the preface of the book ‘Dimmi chi era Recoba’ (tell me who Recoba was) written by journalist Enzo Palladini, and obviously dedicated to the career of the player whose nickname was El Chino.

The former Nerazzurri defender discussed the Uruguayan’s explosion on to the scene when he was brought on as subtitute and scored a brace against Brescia in his debut game for Inter: “Those two wonderful goals were all about precision, technique and power and have remained in the memory of all Nerazzurri fans, who continue to imagine and hope that they are replicable. History told us that the level of difficulty of those two shots was so high that it would be difficult to see them again, but ‘El Chino’ was able to do it again, both in Italy and when he returned home to Uruguay.”
