Milano Mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala spoke on the sidelines of a ceremony today on Inter’s plans to build a new training base and headquarters at Piazza D’Armi: “The municipality of Milan has agreed to re-evaluate that area and San Siro, obviously the topic must be dedicated to something that makes sense compared to current needs.”

Sala continued that “Sport is a need and has a value and Milano needs sport. With Inter I see a willingness to invest. Whereas with AC Milan we started discussing the potential of other areas to build a new stadium if necessary: this should be done in a short time, after which it will be decided by the two teams.”

Sala concluded discussing the possibility of Inter having San Siro to themselves “We say that it is not easy in the sense that there is an open contract. However, I repeat that we are working with Milan to figure out how to build a new stadium, otherwise they will remain at San Siro.”
