Tuttosport – Spalletti’s New Inter Built On The Flanks

Tuttosport made an assessment of the statistics of the top wingers in the Serie A and underlined the great contributions of Ivan Perisic and Antonio Candreva in Spalletti’s system. The Nerazzurri wingers are in the top of these rankings from all aspects. From the numbers of assists to competed crosses Inter’s players dominate completely. Out of the 22 goals scored so far in the league by Inter, 13 have involved the Croatian winger, with Icardi reaping the benefits similarly to how Dzeko did last season at Roma.

Tuttosport reports that “all the decisions made by Inter in during the summer’s transfer window were focused on the need to be explosive from the flanks” which explains Suning’s determination to keep Perisic from leaving for Manchester United, but also via the purchases of Dalbert and Cancelo. Both of them continue to work at Inter’s training centre in Appiano Gentile, focusing on the defensive aspect so no-one should be surprised to see them integrated in the starting line-up towards the latter stages of the season. Which is something that happened with Emerson Palmieri at Roma, who under Spalletti’s wings became a national team player.

Furthermore, another example of Inter reinforcing their firepower on the wings was via the signing of Yann Karamoh. Spalletti, instead of targeting another central midfielder, fullback or central defender, focused on getting another winger to be moulded specifically to suit his plan of how Inter should play.
