Gabigol Out Of Favour At Benfica, Could Return To Brazil

Gabriel Barbosa has featured in just 148 minutes this season for Portuguese reigning champions Benfica since making the loan transfer this past summer from Inter.

According to UOL Esporte, the player who was nicknamed Gabigol in Brazil for his lethal ability in front of goal, was targeted by Benfica’s Directors this summer whilst current coach Rui Vitoria had not given his approval to the transfer.

Now a return to Brazil is looking very likely, according to the report, with Sao Paulo and former club Santos rumored to be of interest in the tha player who won Olympic gold for Brazil in the Rio Summer Olympics in 2014. Meanwhile Alexandre Passaro, intermediary for Italian affairs for Brazilian clubs, has recently met with the player’s entourage to unblock the situation and help the player kickstart his career.

Gabigol signed for Inter durign the 2016 summer transfer window for a reported €30 million and failed to impress on any of Inter’s 4 coaches during last season.
