Inter’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio was interviewed by Premium Sport where he answered questions on a wide variety of topics including the current make up of Inter’s squad, Ivan Perisic and the upcoming January transfer window.

“Spalletti, yesterday, explained why the same players are always playing, there are no physical problems for those who do not play, the day after the game those who played less undertake an intense training session. From a mental point of view Spalletti speaks with everyone, they are all motivated and try to put our coach in trouble when he has to decide the starting line up” Ausilio began.

Ausilio then went on to discuss any possible changes in the squad stating that “the coach has said that he is happy with the number of players in the squad, and before we sell someone we need think about it carefully, because he is very happy with the squad, and those not playing regularly are pushing and raising the level of competition within the team, because even those who play do not want to lose their starting spot on the team. If there was no transfer market in January, then I could go on vacation, I am not a fan of  that market period because the best players do not leave their teams in January, there must be a real opportunity as it was for Gagliardini. Our mentality is focused towards continuous improvement, we watch a lot of games and so many players, but the team performance is our focus, like the desire of those who play less to find a place in the starting 11.”

In conclusion Ausilio was asked about Croatian winger Ivan Perisic’s recent form stating that “we always knew what Perisic could give us, he is married with our project and now he is calm and happy where he is. He is a great professional, he cares for every detail in training and I think you can see that on the pitch. For me he is a top player.”
