Inter’s Gagliardini: “If We Play As Italy, I’m Sure We’ll Go To The World Cup”

In the lead up to the Italian national team’s crunch World Cup playoff match with Sweden, Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini has previewed the match.

“This is a very important moment, and we’ll do everything to meet this challenge in the best way,” the 21-year-old told Sky Sport, adding “It’s something which gives us a lot of responsibility.”

He concluded, “If we play as Italy, I’m sure we’ll go to the World Cup.”

Gagliardini has formed a formidable partnership in the middle with Matias Vecino this term as he has played in 11 of Inter’s 12 league games thus far.

Italy travel to the Stockholm Arena for the first leg which is taking place this Friday with kick-off scheduled for 20:45 local time. Gagliardini is one of four Interista who could feature in the Swedish capital with Antonio Candreva, Eder and Danilo D’Ambrosio all also part of Giampiero Ventura’s squad. The return leg will take place on Monday 13 November.
