Inter have sent a special message to a special player, namely former Nerazzurri player Sandro Mazzola, who turns 75 today. The club released a statement on its official website highlighting his key achievements during his time at Inter.

The Nerazzurri stated that: “In 17 seasons with our shirt he managed 565 appearances scoring 158 goals, winning 4 scudetti, 2 European Cups and 2 Intercontinental Cups. Extraordinary stats and trophies, however these only partially explain his importance in Inter’s history: a bandiera, a living legend, an eternal symbol. From FC Internazionale Milano, Inter Forever and all of the Nerazzurri fans, many happy wishes to the great Sandro Mazzola who turns 75 years old today.”

Sandro Mazzola spent 17 years wearing Inter’s shirt from 1960 – 1977 making 565 appearances for the Nerazzurri scoring 158 goals across all competitions. Mazzola, whose father Valentino Mazzola was the captain of La Grande Torino, also appeared for the Italian national team 70 times, from 1963 to 1974, winning the European Championships in 1968, and getting on the scoresheet 22 times.
